It is a tank with three compartments. The first tank carries out the decantation of solids and anaerobic digestion. The water filters to the second tank due to gravity, where digestion continues and the creation of foam is avoided. Finally, the solid-free water enters the third compartment—the biological filter—made up of a material with an eleva specific surface area, whereby aerobic microorganisms adhere. The water passes through the entire filter by gravity, while the flora stuck to the filter slowly degrades the dissolved organic matter.
